India’s Tech Solutions firm Cognizant has sold its headquarters in Chennai, Hindustan Times has reported. The company sold the headquarters to Bagmane Constructions at a cost of ₹612 crore. Cognizant sells its headquarters in Chennai at a time when the tech company is planning to set-up an immersive learning center on its Siruseri campus.

Strategic Location

Cognizant Chennai headquarters were strategically located in Thoraipakkam along Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR). The property sits on 13.6 acres of land. According to Siva Krishnan, Senior Managing Director at JLL, this is one of the major IT corridors in Chennai. JLL is the firm that brokered the deal,
“The property will be redeveloped into an office park with a potential development of about 3 million sq ft. This will be one of the largest deals in the Zone 2 region of OMR,” Krishnan added.
Zone 2 of OMR stretched from Sholinganallur all the way to Kelambakkam. The road is also referred to as Rajiv Gandhi Salai. Zone 1 of the OMR runs from Madhya Kailash Temple to Sholinganallur.

According to Krishnan, Zone 1 of the OMR stretch hosts a higher number of IT businesses compared to Zone 2. The stretch has a vacancy rate of between 4% and 5%. With limited land not available along the Zone 1 stretch, that focus is now shifting to Zone two where the Cognizant’s Chennai office headquarters were located.

“The deal marks Bagmane’s foray into Chennai’s commercial real estate market while also highlighting the growing interest in Zone 2 of the OMR region, driven by metro connectivity,” Krishnan said.

Immersive Learning Center

As Cognizant’s corporate office sale takes shape, the Indian tech company has unveiled plans to construct an immersive learning center at its Siruseri campus in the same city. The center, which will be established on a 14-acre piece of land, is expected to train at least 100,000 people in AI each year as part of the company’s skilling and innovation program.

The learning center will serve as a hub for Cognizant’s graduate school program in India. The company plans to use it to support other training centers that Cognizant is setting up in its campuses that are located in Pune, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, and Kochi. It will feature 14,000 seats, incubator hubs, smart classrooms, design thinking centers, residential accommodation facilities, and client experience spaces.

“Our new state-of-the-art centers will power new skills and our culture of continuous learning, enabling our people to drive business impact for enterprises globally,” Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said.

Cognizant will also host intensive boot camps for fresh graduates in the immersive learning center. The company envisions it as a critical collaborative space where scholars in academia, tech partners, and clients can engage in learning and research programs.

Focus on AI

Cognizant has been increasing its focus on artificial intelligence. In 2024, the tech giant trained 277,000 employees on generative AI skills. 168,000 of them completed a GenAI course. Currently, 220,000 of the company’s associates have upskilled in GenAI.

The tech company’s planned expansion in Chennai is part of its plan to grow its infrastructure across India. In 2024, Cognizant opened new delivery centers in Indore and Bhubaneswar. The company is set to open a techfin center in Gujarat’s GIFT City. The Indian tech giant has also modernized the Kolkata campus and upgraded close to one million square feet of its Hyderabad facility.

Cognizant’s 2024 annual revenue rose by 1.98% to hit the $19.7 billion mark. The revenue growth reversed the slight drop that the company experienced the year before when its yearly revenue stood at $19.3 billion. This represented a 0.39% drop from 2022.

According to DDnews, the Ministry of Electronics & IT announced on Wednesday that it has received 67 applications from startups, researchers and entrepreneurs for building domestic AI models

The mission aims to make India a world leader in AI by enabling its youth, startups, and industry to harness advanced AI technologies. With this mission, the government plans to enhance the nation’s AI ecosystem through new policies, training modules, and research opportunities. Recently, Sarvam AI unveiled a Generative AI platform to meet the country’s diverse linguistic needs.

Boosting AI Education Through Specialized Programs

One of the major areas of the focus of India’s AI Mission is the beginning of an AI education program to provide knowledge to students and professionals in India. These programs will provide hands -on training, certificate and real -world project experience to develop a skilled AI workforce

By collaborating with the best-in-class education institutions and leading technology firms, the government intends to include AI modules in the course of school and college. The move is expected to set up a strong talent pipeline that can run India’s developing AI industry.

Chinese smartphone giant Huawei has launched a foldable phone model called Pura X, CNBC has reported. Huawei’s Pura X runs on an operating system developed by the company as the smartphone giant seeks to develop an alternative to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android.

Shift from Android

The new Huawei Pura X smartphone is critical to the Chinese tech giant for various reasons. First, it is the first smartphone to run on the company’s operating system, HarmonyOS 5. Huawei first unveiled the operating system in November 2024 as Harmony OS Next. The system is no longer using the open-source code from Google’s Android operating system.

In China, Huawei is emerging as a fierce competitor of US iPhone maker, Apple. Huawei’s market share in China increased by 16.2% in quarter four of 2024 compared to 13.7% the year before. On the flip side, Apple’s share of the Chinese market reduced from 20% in 2023 to 17.4% in 2024.

Another reason why Pura X is critical for Huawei is the need for the smartphone company to expand its domestic market. Since 2023, Huawei has worked to revive its domestic smartphone business after US sanctions affected its sales. The company has been aggressive in unveiling unusual devices, including a trifold mobile phone, in a bid to differentiate itself in the market.

Huawei’s decision to cut ties with Google’s Android operating system appears to be strategic and significant. In 2019, US-imposed sanctions pushed Google into terminating its partnership with Huawei. The latest decision ensures that Huawei’s smartphone business does not suffer losses in light of the ongoing US-China trade war.

AI Features

Pura X is part of Huawei’s premium Pura brand. Huawei’s Chairman for Consumer Business Group said the device is supported by a range of features including mobile payments and phone calls. The device folds into a compact square, creating a 3.5 inch display with a front camera.

When unfolded, Huawei Pura X has a 6.3 inch display. With a 16:10 aspect ratio, its screen area is wider compared to that of many smartphones in the market. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has also included AI features in Huawei Pura X. The phone comes with an AI assistant called Xiaoyi, which is powered by Huawei’s AI models as well as models developed by Chinese AI startup DeepSeek.

The new smartphone is not does not run on the Android operating system. Pura X is the second smartphone that Huawei has developed on its updated system. The first one is the Mate 70 series that the company launched in November 2024.

A Major Comeback

Huawei’s strong comeback in the smartphone market signals Chinese resilience in the face of US restrictions on technology. In 2023, the smartphone company surprised industry observers when it developed an in-house 5G chip that it used in Mate 60. The company also surprised the world when it unveiled Mate 60 in 2024. Mate 60 is the first trifold phone in the world.

Although Huawei has no access to the most advanced chips, the company claims that its HarmonyOS offers a 40% performance improvement over Android. Earlier this month, Huawei said more that 20,000 native apps and services are already running on HarmonyOS Next. 20 of these apps have already surpassed 2 million downloads. The company is working on shifting all its tablets and smartphones to the new operating system this year.

The starting price of Huawei Pura X is $1,037 (7,499 yuan). This price disqualifies the smartphone from the subsidy scheme offered by the Chinese government. The scheme offers a 15% subsidy for the purchase of tablets, smartphones, and smartwatches with a retail price of 6,000 yuan and below. The foldable smartphone is available in five colors.

Tech giants Apple and Google are again on the hot seat as the European Union intensifies its regulatory push, focusing on their market power and business models. The latest action includes EU’s antitrust allegations on Google, which have generated widespread interest in the global technology sector.

According to Reuters, on Wednesday, the EU hit Google for breaking two landmark rules while Apple was asked to help connect rivals with its iphone and Ipads. The European Commission alleges that Google is using its market dominance in digital markets to suppress competition and prefer its own products.

This is part of a wider crackdown against the dominance of big tech firms in the European market. Though the U.S. has pressured the EU for clarity over the regulations over Big Tech firms. The U.S. House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan had asked the EU antitrust chief Teresa Ribera to give you clarification on enforcement of regulations on Big Tech companies.

EU Fines for Tech Giants Set to Increase

The EU’s current investigations may lead to substantial fines for tech giants like Google and Apple. The European Union has in the past imposed billions of euros in fines on the two tech giants for anti-competitive practices.

In the Techarana Conference, Meta and Google criticized EU’s stringent regulations saying that these rules are slowing down the growth of AI in the continent. However, the regulators say that large technology companies have employed their dominance of app stores, search engines, and ad platforms to restrict options for consumers and competitors. Consequently, Google is now facing penalties that could further compound its legal woes in the region.

Impact of EU Rules on Google Services and Business Operations

The impact of EU rules on Google services can be important as these new rules such as Digital Markets Act (DMA) have come into existence. These rules are designed to prevent gatekeeping practices and ensure fair competition on digital platforms. However, when President Trump became the President, the EU probe of Big Tech went on pause due to political pressures.

For Google, this will change how it bundles services such as Google search, map and YouTube. Changes can also affect how data is collected for target advertising and is used, one of the major revenue currents of Google. The tech giants will need to make adequate adjustments in their European operations to follow a strict regulatory structure.

According to regulators, the alphabet prohibits app developers from directing users to alternative platforms where better deals can be available. They also argued that the service fee imposes on developers to get new customers through Google Play, exceeding the appropriate range.

In the second charge, regulators claim that Google offers preference treatment for its services – such as Google Shopping, Google Hotel and Google Flights – Competitive Prasad.

Google EU Investigation Deepens as Scrutiny Grows

The EU’s investigation of Google is deepening further, with regulators amassing evidence of how Google’s business practices hurt competitors. The areas of focus are searching result manipulation, preferential treatment of Google’s own products, and limits imposed on third-party app developers.

This probe is a part of the EU’s larger attempt to rein in big tech and bring a level playing field for the smaller digital competitors. If Google is found guilty, it can face not only hefty fines but also compelled reforms to its core business model within Europe.

As the Google EU investigation intensifies, the company is facing penalties that may influence global regulatory trends. The European Union’s crackdown signals a new era of oversight for Big Tech, with lasting implications for innovation, competition, and digital markets worldwide.

Nvidia experienced a setback as its shares fell by 3% after the new AI chip announcement. According to Yahoo Finance, the tech giant revealed its next-generation AI chip at its annual GTC event in San Jose on Tuesday, highlighting its capabilities in robotics and autonomous vehicle development.

Despite great expectations for its new AI chip models, the market responded in a cautious way due to Trump’s tariffs which led to an unexpected fall in Nvidia’s stocks. The announcement, which was meant to highlight Nvidia’s ongoing leadership in AI hardware, triggered mixed reactions from investors and analysts.

The new chip is a key successor to Nvidia’s Blackwell chips which is set to begin its shipment in 2025. The new upgraded chip can handle more tasks in the same amount of time. This new upgrade will help the providers generate 50 times more revenue in comparison to its predecessor Hopper GPU. CEO Jensen Huang said, “We designed Blackwell Ultra for this moment — it’s a single versatile platform that can easily and efficiently do pretraining, post-training, and reasoning AI inference.”

AI Market Impact on Nvidia and Investor Concerns

The AI market impact on Nvidia was quick as news spread across trading floors. Although Nvidia is still a top player in AI hardware, the launch of new chips stirred concerns about future market dynamics and competitive pressures. In February 2025, when Nvidia announced tighter Q4 profits which made Wall Street skeptical in spite of the company’s AI growth.

Analysts cited competitors catching up fast and having the potential to threaten Nvidia’s commanding lead. Josh Gilbert, a market analyst at eToro Australia said, “Investors may see that as an opportunity, particularly with its valuation remaining attractive on the backdrop of ongoing growth.”

In addition, with global economic instability and increasing tech regulation, investor sentiment suffered, manifesting in the performance of the stock. The market response highlights how closely the movement of Nvidia’s stock is linked to developments in the AI industry and investor sentiment.

Stock Market Trends Reflect Volatility in AI Sector

The recent drop in Nvidia’s shares also points to broader stock market trends affecting tech businesses engaged in AI research. With AI waves riding high, Nvidia’s supplier Ibiden plans for a faster expansion to meet the growing demand.

The decline in Nvidia stocks comes as a reminder of the volatility that characterizes the AI space, with sudden technology changes and strong competition likely to affect market valuations rapidly. Investors are keenly observing as the industry keeps evolving, weighing the optimism regarding the future of AI against fear of risk.

A Challenging Phase Ahead for Nvidia

The Nvidia New AI chip announcement was meant to solidify the company’s position in the market. But the resultant effect of the immediate AI market effect on Nvidia and the subsequent Nvidia stock drop shows the intricacies involved in Nvidia’s continued leadership.

Although the Nvidia stock forecast suggests a possible recovery, overall share market trends indicate further volatility. The performance of Nvidia in the next couple of months will greatly rely on how well it manages competitive forces, economic headwinds, and market expectations in the fickle AI arena.

At the event, Jensen Huang talked about AI and AI agents, saying, “In the last 2 to 3 years, a major breakthrough happened, a fundamental advance in artificial intelligence happened. We call it agentic AI. It can reason about how to answer or how to solve a problem.”

Google is acquiring Wiz for $32 billion. The company’s acquisition of Wiz, the cloud security startup, will be the largest in its history. The acquisition of Wiz’s AI-powered cybersecurity solution will boost Google’s cloud business, Reuters reported.

Strategic Opportunities

In terms of autonomy, Google’s largest acquisition has been likened to the one that happened between Microsoft and LinkedIn. Wiz will continue to operate as an independent platform after the acquisition. Besides the Google Cloud Platform, the AI-powered cybersecurity platform will work across varied cloud providers.

“Google Cloud is a leader in cloud infrastructure, with deep AI expertise and a track record of industry-leading security innovation. Bringing all this to Wiz will help make their solutions even better and more scalable, benefiting customers and partners across all major clouds,” Google said.

The startup is also expected to hire more staff to expand its business. These will likely come from acquisitions that the startup has been pursuing over the last one year. Sources close to the startup say that its annual recurring revenue currently stands at $700 million.

The Alphabet and Wiz acquisition deal still has to undergo regulatory approvals before closure. Prior to the Wiz acquisition, Google’s largest acquisition was the purchase of Motorola Mobility in 2011 at a cost of $12.5 billion. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian was leading the Wiz acquisition deal.

“Google Cloud and Wiz share a joint vision to make cybersecurity more accessible and simpler to use for organizations of any size and industry, enabling more companies to prevent cyber attacks, including in very complex business software environments, will help organizations minimize the cost, disruption and hassle caused by cybersecurity incidents,” Kurian said in a statement.

Previous Acquisition Attempts

This is not the first time that Google has expressed interest in acquiring Wiz. Last year, Google offered to acquire Wiz for $23 billion. However, the talks did not materialize due to concerns about antitrust issues and the startups autonomy for development when operating under Google Cloud.

The amount offered by Google also contributed to the collapse of the talks. Wiz was valued at $12 billion at the time when Google initiated deal discussions. This valuation was based on a $1 billion funding round that the startup had closed early last year. With the change of administration in the US Capitol, analysts believe the regulatory environment will be more supportive of big tech acquisitions.

Google’s interest in Wiz revolves around two areas, enterprise cloud and security. The tech giant seeks to leverage enterprise cloud to enhance its competitiveness against Microsoft Azure and AWS. Wiz’s cybersecurity business will enable the tech giant to boost its product offerings.

The startup has developed cloud security products that include active detection, prevention, and response. Its product portfolio has appealed to big techs and will help Google compete effectively in this area.

“Becoming part of Google Cloud is effectively strapping a rocket to our backs: it will accelerate our rate of innovation faster than what we could achieve as a standalone company,” Wiz co-founder Assaf Rappaport said on Tuesday.

High Valuation

Google is also looking to leverage Wiz enterprise cloud and cybersecurity to complement or offset the challenges or opportunity in AI where it is placing high stakes.

“The increased role of AI, and adoption of cloud services, have dramatically changed the security landscape for customers, making cybersecurity increasingly important in defending against emergent risks and protecting national security,” Google added.

Following the collapse of Wiz acquisition talks last year, the cyber security startup initiated a secondary sale at a $16 billion valuation. The current $32 billion acquisition deal doubles this valuation and presents a big windfall for Wiz investors that include Index Ventures, Sequoia, Salesforce, Cyberstarts, Thrive Capital, and Greenoaks among others,
